Fish-eye disease is a genetic disorder involving a deficiency in lecithin—cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) metabolism. While LCAT metabolism in familial LCAT deficiency is fully inactive, patients with fish-eye disease only have a partial deficiency of LCAT.
